The Many Faces of Parental Cannabis Use

In my Meet a Stoner Mom series I’m introducing you to the many faces of maternal cannabis use. Big ups to these brave parents for submitting their answers! If you want a chance to be featured as a Meet a Stoner Mom, fill out the form at the end of this post.

This month meet Jamie, a mom of two littles who uses cannabis to treat depression and anxiety. I loved hearing how cannabis has helped this mama’s life, especially after traditional pharmecueticals failed her. Meet Jamie!

How many kids do you have and what age range are they?

2 children age 2 & 4

Why do you use cannabis?

I use cannabis to treat depression and anxiety. Cannabis has helped me grow into an easy going and fun mom. After being prescribed a high dose antidepressant and becoming a mindless zombie for a few weeks I decided this route wasn’t going to work for me. sitting on the couch or sleeping all day wasn’t what my kids needed. Cannabis helps with my depression and eases my anxiety. It makes me more productive and useful to my family.

How open are you about cannabis with your kids?

Since my kids are still pretty young they know it’s mommy she medicine. Once they are old enough to understand I will further explain. I generally try to smoke when they are gone for the day, during naps or at bedtime.

What does your daily stoner schedule look like?

Wake up and get the kiddos to daycare or school. Come home and take a few hits to release tension from the horrors of getting kids off to school. I work out, start planning the day for my business and off to work I go. After work, I get to take a quick dab spend a few hours playing with my kids and making dinner and just enjoying the family time. Bed time comes for the little and my husband and I get to enjoy our night with a movie, video game or something else together that’s usually topped with edibles or a vape session.

How does cannabis affect your parenting?

Cannabis makes me a great more active parent. Anger issues run wild in my family and cannabis chills me out, I can brush things off that should upset me. It helps my creativity which in turn allows my kids to have more fun and show off their creative sides. We dance we laugh and we have so much love for one another.

What do you wish more people understood about cannabis use?

Cannabis use is no different than using pharmaceuticals to treat illnesses but it is great because there are no dirty side effects. I can function completely as a mother on cannabis and my children are safe and happy!

The Stoner Mom is a pulled-together, WAHM, SAHM, boo-boo kissing supermom. Most would assume she is not stoned. Most would be quite wrong.
