I’ve neglected to share a Motivational Monday song for the past few weeks. Apologies my dears, I haven’t been listening to rap music because I’ve been surrounded by children every moment of every day. Now the regular summer schedule has returned and I am able to share my recent obsession, basically anything by Childish Gambino (Donald Glover). Heartbeat has me hooked- yet another rap song about infidelity. I don’t know what to say, there is something about men rapping about their love lives that gets to me every time. A song about the woman who left you for another, a woman you can’t stop fucking and a woman the others can’t top. The things I relate to. Universal guy problems I suppose.

I know what your boy like
Skinny tie and a cuff type

He go and make breakfast
You walk around naked

I might just text you
Turn your phone over, when it’s all over
No settling down, my text go to your screen
You know better than that

I come around when you least expect me
I’m sitting at the bar when your glass is empty

You thinking that this song’s coming on to tempt me
I need to be alone like the way you left me
You start calling, you start crying
I come over, I’m inside you

I can’t find you, the girl that I once had
But the sex that we have isn’t half bad
The text say that “It’s not fair”
That’s code for “He’s not here”

Motivational Monday is The Stoner Mom’s weekly music post, whose goal is to introduce your mom to some nondorky jams. In 2015 all songs are personal rap favorites. The playlist can be found here and is a good one for getting stuff done in the house when the kids are gone.

The Stoner Mom is a pulled-together, WAHM, SAHM, boo-boo kissing supermom. Most would assume she is not stoned. Most would be quite wrong.
