Pimms Cup

Good morning my wonderful readers! Today I am in an especially happy mood because it’s official! Summer! Kids are out of school and it’s time to slow down for a few months and enjoy life! For the next few months the rhythm of our everyday will change, and I think it’s important to acknowledge that. With liquor. Yes, The Stoner Mom does indulge in alcohol occasionally. Very, very occasionally. In the past I have had a great appreciation for good liquor and wine. Since I have become a stoner I’ve had very little desire to drink. The negative effects that occur the day after a wild night are so unappealing. I mean, I smoke pot to treat nausea, not cause it.

To celebrate the arrival of sunny days, I want to introduce you to my favorite cocktail for close to ten years, the Pimm’s Cup. A classic British drink and an official cocktail of the Wimbledon, the Pimm’s Cup is cooling, fresh, delicious and easy to drink. Pimm’s Cup’s are potent but don’t taste like it, ie, perfect for the pulled together housewife. Wanna get the wifey tipsy on a hot summer’s night? Hand her one of these to cool her off.

Ingredients

Pimm's Cup
The perfect drink for Summer nights. The Pimm’s Cup.

Pimms #1
Ginger Ale
Cucumber slices
Ice

Directions

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add Pimm’s #1 (I drink a pretty stiff one, close to half and half). Fill the rest of the glass with ginger ale and garnish with sliced cucumber.

There are many variations of The Pimm’s Cup. I have had many versions, the truly British way calls for lemonade I think, and I have been served up Pimm’s Cup’s all over Denver with a whole variety of fruits added, including oranges and strawberries. I like drinks on the “clean” tasting side. Cucumbers are the perfect garnish for The Stoner Mom.

Author

The Stoner Mom is a pulled-together, WAHM, SAHM, boo-boo kissing supermom. Most would assume she is not stoned. Most would be quite wrong.
