All About Delta 8 THC | Cannabinoids 101
As scientists and extractors get even better than they already are at isolating cannabinoids, consumers can expect to start hearing more about minor, lesser-known cannabinoids. You are probably already familiar with THC and CBD, but with over a hundred known cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, we’ve only scratched the surface of understanding how each one affects the human body.
Here at The Stoner Mom, we’re going to start talking about these minor cannabinoids as they become more available on the market. In this post, we’re tackling Delta 8 THC, the non-psychoactive cannabinoid known for its uplifting and calming effects. Scroll on to learn more, and join me for a quick sesh in the video above to see this cannabinoid in action!
What are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. These compounds work with the human body’s endocannabinoid system to have certain effects. Delta 9 THC (usually referred to as just THC) is by far the most well-known and abundant cannabinoid. In addition to having many therapeutic benefits, Delta 9 THC is also highly psychoactive, meaning it is the cannabinoid that makes us feel “stoned” or “high”.
CBD (cannabidiol) is another very well-known cannabinoid and is a popular tool for managing anxiety, pain, and sleep. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, so users can benefit from many therapeutic effects without feeling high.
Delta 8 THC is another cannabinoid, and though it sounds very similar to the popular Delta 9 THC described above, there are some important distinctions between the two.
What is Delta 8 THC?
Delta 8 THC is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid with similar therapeutic effects as THC. It is chemically different from THC by only a few atomic bonds. This minor cannabinoid appears in very small amounts in cannabis flower so its benefits can be hard to obtain via smoking or vaping cannabis. There is currently no such thing as delta-8-THC-rich strains, as the cannabinoid is produced naturally in very small amounts. Fortunately, advanced extractors like 3Chi produce concentrated products so modern-day consumers can easily try delta 8 THC in substantial amounts.
Unlike Δ9 THC, Δ8 THC is federally legal and can be purchased online. Check out this page from 3Chi for more details on the legality of delta 8 THC.
Potential Benefits of Delta 8 THC
Many of the therapeutic benefits of Delta 8 THC are similar to what we’re used to with Delta 9 THC, only with less anxiety, paranoia, and without an intoxicating effect. The most studied and patented use of this cannabinoid is for appetite stimulation and nausea reduction. When vaped, Delta 8 THC can have more energizing and uplifting effects. When ingested, delta 8 THC has more sedating and analgesic effects.
- appetite-stimulating
- antiemetic – inhibit nausea and vomiting
- anxiolytic – may help with anxiety and panic attacks
- analgesic – pain-relieving
- neuroprotective

3Chi Products I’ve Used
Delta 8 THC Vape Cartridges
3Chi’s delta 8 THC cartridges are by far my favorite of their products. These cartridges are available in a variety of terpene blends and mimic the effects of some of the most popular cannabis strains. Each cartridge contains 900mg Δ8 THC, 50mg CBN + CBC, and 50mg of a custom terpene blend. Try Tangie for a delicious and energizing pick-me-up, or OG Kush for a more relaxing and body soothing effect. I’m also a huge fan of 3Chi’s Green Crack blend which is the perfect companion for productive summer days.
I have been using these cartridges during the day pretty much exclusively, and love how they quiet my anxieties and put me in a great mood, without getting me too high or easily distractible. I highly recommend these for those in prohibition states with limited safe access to cannabis products.
Comfortably Numb Tincture
Experience next-level relaxation with Comfortably Numb, our new Delta 8 THC and CBN ratio tincture. This product will have you feeling exactly like its name with it’s potent ratios and added CBC and beta-caryophyllene dominate terpene blend for maximum effects.
This sublingual tincture was formulated to produce deep relaxation and restorative sleep. My husband and I have been using Comfortably Numb at bedtime, and we both sleep so well when we take it. Wonderful for relaxing at the end of the day. When we take it before bed there’s no waking up in the night, and no grogginess the next day! If you’re already looking to cannabis as a sleep aid, I highly recommend trying this tincture with its unique Δ8THC, CBN, CBC, and terpene blend. Also available in a cartridge!
1200mg Δ8 THC Tincture
3Chi’s potent delta 8 THC sublingual tincture is a broad-spectrum extract also containing CBD, CBN, CBC, CBG, CBDv, and a custom terpene blend. This tincture is a creeper and settles into the body with deep relaxation, pain relief, and mental clarity. Highly recommended for those looking for the physical therapeutic effects of Δ8THC.
Δ8 THC Gummies
If edibles are more your thing, 3Chi makes delicious black raspberry gummies with 25mg of Δ8 THC per treat. These are really soft and tasty, with lots of sugar crystals and no gross cannabis-aftertaste.
Delta 8 THC Distillate Syringe
For the purists out there, 3Chi offers a pure delta 8 THC distillate syringe in a 1 ml graduated glass, Luer lock syringe. This thick, high-quality distillate can be ingested straight as is or dabbed.
Minor Cannabinoids and the Future of Cannabis
3Chi are true pioneers, offering a look at the future of cannabis. I know I’ve been saying this for years, but as cannabis research and legalization marches on, individual cannabinoids and specific terpenes are going to be front and center for both patients and connoisseurs. As more consumers are educated on these different cannabinoids and terpenes, shoppers will start going to the dispensary or growing their own strains with specific cannabinoids and their effects in mind.
