Happy Monday Stoners! I’m getting a lot of traffic from newcomers so I’d like to say a special ‘hi’ to you that are new to The Stoner Mom. This is Motivational Monday, where I try to instill a little groove in your mom’s music rotation. See, I love rap music. I love it so, so, much. And what I think is kinda special/funny, is that I did not develop this passion until my late 20’s. I mean, I always liked a lot of popular rap, dance tracks that made TRL and stuff. But it wasn’t until my, ahem, early-midlife-crisis, that I realized that real rap was astoundingly intelligent. Even the dumbest, most misogynistic tracks are full of puns, double entendres, and references so obscure one must google. Anyway, once I realized that these guys were writing dissertation level songs about pussy, I was hooked.
Okay, moving on to this particular track. G.O.M.D. is my favorite song off of 2014 Forest Hills Drive. He’s talking about the rap game, his status, crappy rap tracks, his guilt, his need for love, standard stuff really. But… what does it stand for? Sigh. Oh Mom.
Get to know somebody and you really learn a lot about ’em
Won’t be long before you start to doubt ’em
Tell yourself you better off without ’em
Then in time you will find can’t walk without ’em
Can’t talk without ’em, can’t breathe without ’em
Came here together, you can’t leave without ’em
So you walk back in, make a scene about ’em
On your Amerie it’s just 1 thing about ’em
It’s called love, niggas don’t sing about it no more.
Motivational Monday is The Stoner Mom’s weekly music post, whose goal is to introduce your mom to some non-dorky jams. In 2015 all songs are personal rap favorites. The Stoner Mom’s Playlist is found here and is a good one for getting stuff done in the house when the kids are gone.
