It’s Moving Day For The Plants
Welcome to another episode of What’s Going On In Dave’s Grow. Today we are going to be moving some of these plants into another tent while we transplant the rest into more age-appropriate pots. All of the plants in this video have been started from seed and I will link to those strains down below in this post.
Transplanting
There are a lot of benefits to transplanting. The number one reason would be to promote root growth. The more roots your plant has, the bigger it gets and it can’t get bigger unless it has room to do so. I have made a few transplant videos in the past, you can check one of those out here. You will see in this video that I thoroughly drench my coco prior to transplanting. I do this because I don’t want to put my healthy rooted plants into dry coco. Just trying to prevent transplant shock.
Light Intensity For Various Stages of Growth
Prior to moving the plants, I started with a lower wattage, full spectrum grow light. This same light is the one these babies have had ever since they were seeds put into containers. High-intensity lighting for seedlings or clones is just too much for them to take in the early stages of growth. They are just trying to survive in the beginning and something like an 800-watt light would be similar to trying to force-feed steak to a baby. So just start out low and slow. You can always purchase an inexpensive low-watt light like this one.
What About That Nursery?
You may have seen that I moved my seedlings into another tent. I also had a couple of plants that were started at different stages and I am trying to give the little ladies time to grow up so they can join their big sisters in the main tent once they get bigger. I will be topping the plants in the 5 gal. containers to keep them short until their little sisters are ready to join them. You can check out my other video on topping here.
I have tried to germinate seeds in all sorts of ways in the past and I think I have just found the best way to do so. I ordered some small cups with dome lids. After saturating the coco with low-level nutrient-rich water (at around 5.6 ph), I placed a seed in the middle of the coco about an inch deep, and placed the dome on top. Thats it! About 4 days later they all popped
