Welcome Back!

This week I will be showing you how to transplant your seedlings into their first new home, quart pots. I also will be showing off my new dimmer controller from Grow Flux.

Why Transplant?

Transplanting is important for overall plant growth, but why? Essentially, you are giving the plant the right amount of space to grow which will also prevent over or under-watering.

If you start your seeds in say a 3-gallon pot, you end up wasting so much water (and nutrients) saturating the medium. You also risk having the small plant exposed to root rot by sitting in an overly saturated area.  Nutrients are expensive so why waste a ton of it trying to saturate a massive area of space where there are no roots? Instead, move your plant from a small container and work your way up to the final size.

I typically start with the small container to put my seeds in, then move up to a quart pot, then finally the 3-gallon pot. This has always worked well for me and helped to establish a healthy root system.

Dimmer Controllers

Dimmer controllers are amazing! In the video above, I show you how I changed the schedule for my light from 60% intensity to 80% intensity. This has made my life so easy during the grow because I can take my time working up light intensity for my plants and not having to switch from a lower level light in germination to a higher powered light in flower.

I also really love that I can ramp up the light to mimic sunrise and sunset in my grow tent. I have just started to play with it, but I can see the plants responding positively to the change in the lighting schedule.

The Grow Flux controller works with a large number of existing lighting options on the market. It eliminates the need for a dedicated timer on your lights and can also work with multiple lights at once. Set up specific zones and have multiple lights come on and off at different intensities at the same time.

I wholeheartedly recommend getting yourself a dimmer controller for your home grow. For those with one grow light, you now can raise and lower the intensity of that light depending on the size of your grow. It’s a complete game changer.

Don’t Forget To Store Your Flower Correctly

One more thing. Do not forget to store your harvested flower with Boveda’s 2-way humidity control packs. I use them now to cure with (be sure to check that post out here). If you are a home grower, you probably have a lot of stored flower on hand. I use the size 8 62% Rh Boveda packs to prolong the life of my flower.

Do yourself a favor and join the subscribe and save program. I have size 67s arriving at my door every 3 months and believe me I need them. Don’t reuse the packs! Just buy new ones and watch your flower live on for months (or years) to come. Harvest video coming soon so stay tuned to see how my curing game has been elevated since I started using Boveda.
