Success Nutrients and FOHSE Grow

Welcome back to What’s Going On In Dave’s Grow!

In this grow I am trying out the FOHSE Aries grow light and the Success Nutrients PRO Line. Check out the video below to see the whole grow from start to finish.

First off, let’s talk about the light.

This light is not a full-spectrum product. I do think the spectrum shows that it contains minimal amounts of UV and IR, but to me it is a white grow light. The light does come with it’s own controller and it will allow you to set the “spectrum” feature. Choose between Spring, Summer, and Fall. Personally, I put it in the spring feature in veg and went straight to fall when I hit flower.

Setting the timer was a breeze with it’s touch screen control. I simply dialed in when I wanted it to come on and go off. It also has a Sunrise and Sunset feature that allows you to choose the length of time you want the light to gradually brighten and power down. I chose 20 minutes for both. The controller does not include any type of environmental control and is strictly for the light, so if you are low on space and need an all-in-one option with environmental controls, get a different controller.

What are my thoughts?

This was my first time growing with a white light. I have to say the plants really love white light in Veg, but there was a lot of space between the nodes which lead me to wonder if the colas would be big in flower. Good news, the plants absolutely filled in the spaces in flower leaving me with nice big fat colas. While I was please with the plants sitting directly under the light, I have to say the corners and sides of the plants in the grow space were pretty larfy when I harvested (I will cover that in the next video). I loved the controller for sure with it’s ease of use and liked the nifty features like seasonal spectrum choices and the Sunrise/Sunset options. Too bad it didn’t have an environmental control option.

Now let’s talk about the nutrients.

Success is a well-known option in the cannabis industry and is credited for it’s use in conjunction with the Three A Light method of growing. The lineup consists of a 9 part system with Silica being the only liquid in the nutrient line. 9 parts may seem like a lot in this day and age when you have nutrient lines like Athena which is a 3-part system. I am here to tell you though that 9 parts aren’t always used in every feeding and I really liked how the feed chart was so detailed and took you down to daily feeds.

Follow the steps.

The ethos of Success is “Follow the steps to Success” and I did and was very successful. I love the powder line as it is as mess-free as it gets. It can be easily stored on a shelf for a long long time (unlike liquid nutrients which are susceptible to heat and cold and can crystalize). I also loved how you can just weigh out each part of the powder line to make a slurry. Just add water and mix then dump into your reservoir. They are highly water-soluble and I had no issues with lockout after mixing the powders together all at once. *Pro tip, measure out your feedings and put them into individual sandwich bags. When you are ready, just make a slurry and add it to your reservoir and that’s it. I used ProMix as my grow medium in 5-gallon plastic pots. ProMix is the recommended medium of the Success feed chart and I was very pleased with it. I typically use coco in my grows, but have now been converted. The strain is called Lemon OG and it definitely has a ton of lemonene in it giving it a PineSol scent.

What are my thoughts?

The ProLine of nutrients from Success is a winner. I will absolutely be using it moving forward in all of my grows. I love that the 5 pound bags take up so little space in my grow room and I don’t have to worry about longer-term storage. Some may say that there are too many products in the lineup, just take a closer look at all the lines out there. They all have additives and enhancers for sale. Success just shows all of it’s cards upfront. Growing good cannabis means a lot of attention to detail, following all the steps, and good nutrients

. I think that Success does a great job of educating on it’s site and I can say the product works well. I will cover the plants and harvest in the next video, but let’s just say I enjoyed the light and the nutrients. Huge thanks to FOHSE and Success Nutrients for their products. I was very pleased with the outcome and will be using this light and nutrients in the upcoming grows.
